If you’re like us and get excited about maps then check out this!

Amtrak Routes
Just look at alll the different Amtrak routes (the red lines) you can take.  The green lines are connecting bus services in case you’re wondering. You could spend weeks criss-crossing this vast country enjoying the changing scenery and quirks of different regions.

To make this a bit easier (and to save some money!) purchase an Amtrak USA Rail Pass.  You can get a pass which covers 8, 12 or 18 segments that can be used over 15, 30 or 45 days respectively.  A segment is each time you break your journey regardless of how far you travel.  Here’s an example of how you could use an 8 segment Amtrak USA Rail Pass and save:

Starting at San Diego you can stop Los Angeles, San Francisco, Sacramento, Salt Lake City, Denver, Omaha and finishing in Chicago. This represents only 7 segments and could easily be done in 15 days.  Plus you have one more stop you could make to use up all the segments. The 8 segment pass costs $401 whereas if you bought individual tickets it would be $606. These prices are correct as at 8/7/11.

So get your thinking cap on and start planning a great rail journey across the States with Amtrak.

A recent client who was thrilled with her self drive experience in Europe with Alamo!

Alamo Rent A Car Italy
Having recently traveled to Europe on our honeymoon and wanting to visit Switzerland, Italy and Croatia, we thought what better way to travel than in the luxury of our own hire car.

We had always traveled tediously on trains and taxi’s, but this time round we were so pleased to have our own car with the flexibility to be able to visit the little towns and villages along the way at our own speed. As our pictures show, we had an awesome brand new Alfa Romeo Giulietta which we booked through Alamo. This Alfa was a beauty driving through the newly built high ways of Croatia, the winding roads of the Italian coast, while soaking up the breathtaking views of the Swiss alps and summer Italian mountains.

A bonus was being able to pull over on sides of the roads while watching the last bit of snow melt away across the vast beauty of the mountains. An added bonus was getting use to the high road speeds and feeling like you were driving a hot red Ferrari as the over taking Italian’s showed how it was done!

Driving in Italy
If we were ever to visit Europe again, we would no doubt hire a car through Alamo, as it was easy, quick and efficient to hire and no doubt one of the best ways to travel across country.

Thanks Momento for your amazing service and recomendations.
